In partial hip replacement surgery, only a part of the joint, i.e. the ball is replaced with the artificial steel ball while the original socket is retained. It is performed for patients with fractures.

Do's and Don'ts
- Be aware of your medical history
- Arrange for an adult family member or friend to take you home after surgery
- Tell your doctor about any medicines you may be taking or any allergies you may be having
- Do not smoke or consume alcohol
- Do not eat or drink for six hours prior to the procedure
- Doctor might suggest you these tests : Blood tests, urine tests, ECG, X-Ray, MRI
- Exercise and control your diet to lose weight which will help with early recovery.Eat whole, unprocessed food rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Stay hydrated
- You should avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting for sometime
- You can go for short walks
- Intake medicines and pain killers as precribed by the doctor
- Discharge time : 2-3 days
- Recovery time : 6-9 weeks
